Sales Tax Policy
Last Updated: June 24, 2026
This Sales Tax Policy explains how Swift Ship Containers applies sales tax to orders. We collect and remit sales tax in accordance with applicable US federal, state, and local laws.
1. Sales Tax Collection
Swift Ship Containers is required to collect sales tax on taxable orders shipped to states where we have a tax obligation (nexus), including our home state of Utah. Where we are required to collect, the applicable tax is added to your order.
2. How Sales Tax Is Calculated
Sales tax is calculated at checkout based on:
- The delivery (ship-to) address you provide;
- The current state and local tax rate for that location; and
- The taxability of the items ordered.
The exact tax amount is shown on the order summary before you complete your purchase.
3. Tax-Exempt & Resale Purchases
If you are a tax-exempt organization or are purchasing for resale, you may qualify for a tax exemption. To process your order tax-free:
- Email a valid, signed exemption or resale certificate for the delivery state to sales@swiftshipcontainers.com before placing your order;
- Allow us to verify the certificate — exemptions cannot be applied retroactively after an order is paid.
Once approved, we will arrange your order without sales tax.
4. Quotes and Custom Orders
For phone quotes and custom-built units, any applicable sales tax will be itemized on your written quote or invoice.
5. Changes to Tax Rates
Tax rates and rules are set by government authorities and may change at any time. The rate applied to your order is the rate in effect on the date your payment is accepted.
